Basic Coastal Cruising – ASA 103

So, you’ve made it through Basic Keelboat Sailing (ASA 101) and you’re looking to expand your knowledge and experience on the water? Time to hoist the main and set sail with Basic Coastal Cruising (ASA 103). This class is designed to further familiarize you with parts of the boat and conditions at sea in a fun and relaxing environment.

  • Rules of the Road under power
  • Essential safety equipment
  • Troubleshooting the engine
  • Handling a vessel under power
  • The magnetic compass
  • Running aground and other nuisances
  • Steering with the sails
  • Launching, storing and maintaining your boat
  • And many more

 

As part of the ASA 103 course, you will receive:

 

  • The ASA sailing manual, Sailing Fundamentals
  • Upon completion of the course, an ASA decal showing your skill level
  • Upon completion of ASA 103, an official Yachting Vacations certificate to mount
